From Bulgaria:

1. The woman in the photo is Edith Piaf. 
Edith Piaf, born in 19 December 1915,was a French singer and cultural icon who is almost universally regarded as France`s greatest popular singer.Her singing reflected her life with her specialty being ballads.Among her songs are “La vie en rose” , “Hymne a l`amour” , “Milord” and etc.

2. As a little aside because the French eat frogs “legs” the nickname that the English give to the French is the “Froggies”. In Bulgarian the word “Froggies” is “Jabari” .

3. Chanel № 5 was the first fragrance from Parisian conturier Gabrielle „Coco” Chanel and has been on sale continuously since its introdution in 1921.It has been described as „the world`s most legendary fragrance” and remains the company`s most famous perfume.The company estimates that a bottle is sold worldwide every 30 seconds.The perfume was also famous in our country then and nowadays it still remains on the top of the charts.

4. The Ardeche department boasts a great local gastronomy. Do taste – amongst others - the caillette (kind of bowls made of pork meat, eggs, spinach, herbs and spices), creme de marrons (sweet chestnut jam), crique (potato pancakes) and cousina (chestnut soup), you will not be disappointed,chataigne custard and chataigne cake.

5. In Pere Lachaise Cemetery.It is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world , there are burried a lot of Famous and important people live Oscar Wild,Molieve and others.

From Poland:

1. This is Coco Chanel. She was pioneering French fashion designer with modernist philosophy.
2. English call French "frogs" because they think this it's typical French food. In French it's "les grenouilles''.
3. It's probably Lancome Miracle. We think it's not popular in our country.
4. Some typical plats: Cailette, Fin gras du Meyenec, Maoche, Coucouron, Creme de marrons, wines: Condrieu, Saint-Joseph.

BULGARIA
1. Why do the Bulgarians wear Martenitza? When do they start wearing it?What does it symbolize
The Bulgarians wear Martenitza (Baba Marta) because it's a tradition in Bulgaria since 681, representing the escape of the five children of a Bulgarian king. It's a red and white pompom. The red colour symbolizes life and passion, the white colour symbolizes purity and soul.
They start wearing it on March 1st and they keep it all month long. It's a way to symbolize a wish of good health.
2. What is the name of the statue located in the center of the Bulgarian capital city which symbolizes wisdom and glory and represents protector of the city? How does it look like?
The woman represented on the statue is Sofia, just as the name of the capital city. She holds in her hands the symbol of wisdom and knowledge. She is wearing the crown of Tjuhe. She is the godess of the destiny.

NORWAY

Back from Bulgaria !

Our first meeting with our European partners took place from Wesnesday, November 3rd to Monday, November 8th, in Sofia.

We met colleagues and other students from Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Norway and Bulgaria, of course. We have been warmly welcomed and have had some intensive working sessions about our common project, "The Quest for the European Grail". We also discovered the 88th Secondary school "Dimitar Popnikolov" in which we met and worked.

Special Thanks to our Bulgarian colleagues who organised this meeting with great professionalism. 

Discovering the boxes sent by our Europeans partners (Part 1)

On October, Thursday 22th, students of 1.L and 2.7 opened the first three boxes we received from Belgium, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. What a great moment!

Meeting In Bulgaria

In early November, 4 students and 3 teachers from Marcel Gimond will go to Sofia, Bulgaria for the first work meeting of the project:

News about the boxes to be sent to our European partners...

On Monday, October 12th, we will be ready to send the boxes with the five objects representing France to our European partners!

Those items have been chosen by both classes (Première L and Seconde 7) after great debates to determine a common selection. Many ideas, as original or funny as they can be, were mentionned.

We all hope that it will not be too easy for the other countries to identify France with this selection...

To keep the secret on the content of the boxes as long as possible for our European partners , we will publish the five items chosen later on this blog!
